BOTOX® Treatments

You laugh. You frown. You concentrate. And over time, those expressions leave their mark upon your face. As we go through a lifetime of emotions and our skin ages, these facial lines do not go away completely, they sometimes falsely portray a tired, angry, or more aged appearance.
Fortunately, there is a way to temporarily reduce these moderate to severe lines. Treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can visibly smooth and soften facial wrinkles, restoring a more youthful, rested appearance.

How do you get wrinkles?

The lines that appear on the upper third of your face actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When you, laugh, frown, or concentrate, underneath your skin, your facial muscles contract, causing a pleating of the overlying skin.

After years of crinkling and wrinkling, those facial lines start to linger longer and can become more pronounced. They tend to result in wrinkles between eyebrows, on the forehead, and at the corners of your eyelids (commonly known as crow's feet). For women, whose faces tend to be more animated than men's, and whose skin is typically more delicate, these lines may appear exaggerated and more permanent.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those facial lines to form over time.

How is BOTOX administered?

The beauty of a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is that it's a simple, 10-minute, non-surgical process. A few tiny injections, and within days there can be a noticeable improvement in the moderate to severe facial lines that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

Am I a good candidate for BOTOX treatments?

The best candidates for BOTOX® treatments are people who are healthy, with no history of neuromuscular diseases, who are not pregnant or nursing and who are between the ages of 18 and 65 years old.

You should not have for BOTOX® treatments if you have any of the following conditions: existing weakness in the targeted muscles; ptosis (drooping eyelids); deep facial scars; very thick facial skin, marked facial asymmetry; or skin disorders around the planned treatment area.

Be sure to tell the doctor the names of all the medicines you are using. As with all prescription medicines, you should also notify the doctor if you are taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal products.

What are the side effects of BOTOX treatments?

Localized pain, temporary eyelid droop, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.
